An Aussie foodie who attempted to make a trending recipe has gone viral for all the wrong reasons after TikTok users were shocked by his extremely long fake nails.

Michael Finch, a 26-year-old influencer known for his cooking videos, shared a video of himself preparing Brazilian lemonade with his 588,300 followers.

The unique recipe has been making waves on the video-sharing app, but Michael's version stood out from the thousands of clips doing the rounds.

In the video, Michael is seen chopping limes using a meat cleaver but struggles to pick them up because of his talon-like, coffin-shaped nails.

He also has difficulty pressing the buttons on his blender and opening a can of condensed milk.

Fans flocked to the comments section to laugh at how Michael tried to adapt the recipe around his French tip nails, which also featured silver beads.

'The nails and the condensed milk tin had me stressed,' one wrote.

'The thing I learned with nails is the more you overthink it, the harder it is to do things. Just try to do them normally [with] no overthinking. It's way easier than it looks,' another said.

'Are you new to wearing nails?' one fan asked, adding a crying-with-laughter emoji.

The video was first shared on Michael's TikTok in February, but was recently reposted by the Instagram account Influencer Updates AU.

'This video is too funny not to share,' the account's admin wrote, which prompted one follower to comment: 'I can't with the nails.'

'I think it's the nails that make it funny,' someone wrote.

'I have never had long or fake nails because of wearing contact lenses... how do people do ordinary stuff with nails like that?' another asked.

However, some didn't quite understand what all the fuss was about, pointing out that it's normal to have elaborate nails these days.

'I kept watching an waiting for the funny part and now I'm not sure if I'm just dumb,' one follower wrote.

While many social media users were baffled by Michael's nails, others didn't see what the fuss was about

Michael is a food vlogger from the Gold Coast who is always hopping on board with the latest cooking trends on social media.

He recently made an 'addictive' Persian Shirazi-inspired feta salad that is simple to throw together.

'I have made this salad literally three times in the past three weeks, just because it's that good,' he said.

'It's literally so addictive. It's good as a side salad or with corn chips.'

Previously, Michael tried his hand at the viral butter board trend which he dubbed the new 'charcuterie board.'

To make the butter board, Michael first spread organic butter on a plate, then added sea salt and goats cheese.

He drizzled apricot jam, dried apricots, truffle honey with macadamia nuts and edible flowers over the butter.

The foodie served the dip with sourdough bread.
